When analyzing literature, students often deepen their understanding through discussion and exploration. These stations and task cards can help fascilitate that process by having students move around the classroom as they explore the literary elements of the chosen short story. At each station, students will be guided by 6 individual task cards for discussion.

CONTENTS

  • FIVE stations title cards with information for students (Plot, Setting, Theme, Narrative Perspective, Characterization).
  • THIRTY visually appealing task cards (6 per station) to prompt students' discussions
  • ONE double-sided response sheet for students to make notes.

HOW TO USE

  1. Before class, set up the room in 5 groups, and place the corresponding title card and individual task cards at each station.
  2. Print the response sheets (one per student).
  3. As students enter, assign them each to a station with a recording sheet. Instruct them to spend time discussing the questions there.
  4. Allow about 10 minutes per station for students to discuss. Then instruct them to get up and move to the next one!
  5. Carry on till all stations have been completed.
