Description

Are you searching for a step-by-step PowerPoint that can be used to introduce various type of analogies to your students in a way that will grab their attention? You've come to the right place! This 54-slide PowerPoint features ten types of analogies. It begins by explaining how analogies are written and "balanced". Students learn to analyze the relationship between the two words in the first half of the analogy and then apply the same relationship in the second half of the analogy with the missing word. It includes tons of practice opportunities where students fill in the blank with the missing word and select the best option from a list of four words. The multiple-choice format makes this an ideal PowerPoint if you are looking for test prep opportunities.

PowerPoints filled with visuals are ideal for teaching new content to students because PowerPoints tend to be highly engaging and concepts can be easily broken down into understandable chunks of information. But let's face it... they are so time-consuming to create! Fortunately, now you have an option of using one that is already complete, kid-tested, and ready to go for you!

HERE'S THE SEQUENCE OF TOPICS COVERED IN THIS POWERPOINT:

Slides 1-13: Introduction to Analogies

Slides 14-18: Analyzing the Relationship Between Words (Includes prompts)

Slides 19-33: Fill-in-the-blank Practice

Slides 34-54: Multiple-Choice Practice

***A PowerPoint companion handout is also included in this file. Therefore, students can follow along and record answers on this handout as you progress through the PowerPoint! The companion handout is available in both printable format or digital format. The digital version is compatible with Google Slides.**

Also, you DO have my permission to convert the PowerPoint to a Google Slides presentation.
