What educators are saying

This a great way to begin class and I use it for bellwork. Students can place this in their folder and it's a great way to start class as well as keep students engaged. I often have them discuss with their shoulder partner and then share out before we start each class. Thank you for this resource!
I love using these bell ringers daily. It’s such a great way to engage students from the beginning of class.

Description

Exit slips and bellwork are great strategies to check student understanding and provide opportunities for reflection of your U.S. History content. If you’re tired of spending valuable time coming up with new prompts each day use these great timesaving journal prompts! This journal provides a page of prompts for each week of the school year. Items range from questions that are designed to:

· summarize content

· rate their level of understanding

· demonstrate knowledge of U.S. History vocabulary terms

· identify a cause or effect of a historical event

· create a quick and simple timeline

· identify an appropriate artifact

· identify historical figures in American History

The journal consists of 40 pages of 5 prompts for a total of 200 prompts designed for U.S. History. You may select the journal page that best suits your instruction for each week. Each page includes the entire week of prompts and is a timesaver, eliminating the time spent copying and cutting slips out each day. Students can store each week’s journal page in a notebook or folder and quickly turn to the journal page each day when it’s time for completion of exit slips. A quick check of student responses can provide insight and data to inform you of student levels of understanding of your content. Reviewing journal entries are helpful test review practices. The journal provides a great and orderly transition at the end of each class (or beginning of the class if you choose to us it as bellwork) by providing a task with a meaningful purpose for students and you! Check out the PREVIEW above!
