Description
Are you looking for a differentiation strategy to engage your middle school and high school students while teaching about the amendments in the constitution? This vocabulary activity will help all students learn the constitution amendments. Use the notes to provide direct instruction and the task cards to reinforce the concepts in the U.S. Constitution Amendments #1-27.
Students will define essential vocabulary terms included in all six groups of Amendments, including the Bill of Rights, Post Civil War, Progressive Movement, Voting Rights, Presidential, and Unique Historical Circumstances. They'll learn the history behind why these changes were ratified in the U.S. Constitution and how the federal government's functions have changed over time.
Each question aligns with Revised Bloom's Taxonomy levels of thinking, D.O.K. style questions, and government standards.
Support diverse middle and high school learners by pre-teaching important vocabulary terms with images. The guided notes include a space for students to create a visual memory aid.
I've used this activity in my mild to moderate special education classroom and co-taught classes. Co-workers who work with students in the general education setting have also used this activity.
