Alphabet Penmanship - Alphabet Writing Practice - Correct Letter Formation

Students practice correct letter formation with the help of a penmanship house and the closed 4-line system.


The four landscape outlines for each letter consist of uppercase and lowercase practice lines, a line to practice a Dolch word, and a sentence to copy that includes the Dolch word and the picture word. The four portrait outlines have the option of a name line, lines for uppercase and lowercase letter practice, and a line to write the picture word.

Bb – bear, brown – The bear is brown.
Cc – cat, come – Come here, cat!
Dd – dolphin, dive – Do dolphins dive?
Ee – elephant, egg – Elephant sees eggs.
Ff – fish, find – Fish finds a friend.
Gg – grape, good – Grapes are good.
Hh – heart, home – My heart is home.
Ii – igloo, big – Is it a big igloo?
Jj – jellyfish, jump – Jellyfish jumps!
Kk – kite, keep – Keep the kite high!
Ll – ladybug, little – Ladybugs are little.
Mm – mouse, me – Mouse melts me!
Nn – nest, never – Never leave the nest.
Oo – octopus, old – Octopus is not old.
Pp – pig, play – Pig plays with pears.
Qq – queen – Queen has questions.
Rr – rose, red – Roses are red.
Ss – star, small – See six small stars!
Tt – tree, try – Try to sit on a tree.
Uu – umbrella, up – Up, umbrella, stay up!
Vv – volcano, have – Volcanoes have lava.
Ww – whale, white – The whale is white.
Xx – box, six – A six is in the box.
Yy – yolk, yes – Yes, yellow egg yolk!
Zz – zebra, zoo – Zebra is in the zoo.
