    What's included:

    Activity 1: Cards for “Fishing for Beginning Sound”: Print, cut and laminate the basket cards and fish cards. Students will say each letter sound and find the fish pictures with the same initial sound. There are 7 pictures for each letter. Pictures included for X: xylophone, x-ray, x-ray fish, fox, fix, mix, and wax.

    Activity 2: Cards for “Help me find the sound”: Print, cut and laminate the cards. Students will identify the sound of the pictures shown and place the matching letter card (basket cards from Activity 1) on the mat.

    Activity 3: Letter identification pages: Print, cut and laminate the pages. Students will find and color the matching upper case and lower case letters.

    Activity 1: Cards for “Over the Clouds”: Print, cut and laminate the parachute letter cards and cloud picture cards. Students will say each letter sound and find the matching pictures. There are 7 pictures for each letter. Pictures included for X: xylophone, x-ray, x-ray fish, fox, fix, mix, and wax.

    Activity 2: Use the letter parachute cards from Activity 1. Print and laminate the work mats. There are 4 mats with 26 pictures on each mat - one for each letter.

    Students select a letter card, identify its sound, and find and cover the matching picture on the mat.

    Activity 1: I've included two versions for this activity: Version 1: For each upper case letter, students will find its matching lower case and the corresponding pictures. You’ll need seeds and watermelon mats for this version. Version 2: Students will find the corresponding pictures for each watermelon. You’ll need seeds and watermelon letters for this version.

    Activity 2: Print and laminate the clip cards. Students write the letter using dry-erase markers and clip the matching pictures. There are three corresponding pictures for each letter.

    Activity 1: Print, cut and laminate the letters and picture cards. Students will say each letter sound and find the matching pictures.

    Worksheets: Students say the beginning sound of each picture and color the matching crayon.

    Activity 1: Initial Sound Jewels: Print, cut and laminate the letters and picture cards. Students will say each letter sound and find the matching pictures.

    Activity 2: Print and laminate the bottle mats. Students will say the beginning sound of each picture and place the matching letter. You may use magnetic letters, dry-eraser markers or letter tiles

    Activity 1: Cards for “Find the rabbits”: Print, cut and laminate the letters and picture cards. Students will say each letter sound and find the matching pictures.

    Activity 2: What’s in my hat? -- To be played with rabbit cards from Activity 1: How to play: Select the cards you would like to review and keep them in a hat. Pick one card from the hat. Give clues about the picture. Clues could be “The picture on my card starts with….,” “It’s ____ in color,” “You can use it to…,” etc. The students identify the picture and letter sound.

    Activity 3: Find the Hat? -- To be played with rabbit cards from Activity 1: Use one set of picture cards from Activity 1. Students pick one card from the pile and say the letter sound. They, then, find the letter hat and trace it.

    Activity 4: Magical Hat: Find and color the hats: Students say the sound of each letter and color the pictures that begin with it. Letter X includes picture that start with or end with the sound: x-ray, xylophone, x-ray fish, box, fox, and mix

    Activity 5: Clip the correct cup: Print and laminate the clip cards. Students will say the beginning sound of each picture and clip the correct letter.

    Activity 1: Initial Sound Balloon Sorting -- Print, cut and laminate the clown letters and balloon pictures. Students will say each letter sound and find the matching pictures.

    Activity 2: Initial Sound Clip Cards -- Print and laminate the clip cards. Students will say the beginning sound of each letter and clip the correct pictures.

    Activity 3: Carnival Puzzle Mats -- Print, cut and laminate the colored puzzle pieces. Students say the beginning sound of each picture and place the matching letter piece on it. There are three different mats and they are color-coded to help avoid any confusion.

    Activity 1: Tulip Sort and Match -- Print, cut and laminate the tulips. Students will say each letter sound and find the pictures beginning with the same sound.

    To prepare the center, cut out the cards and put a small piece of Velcro on the back side of each card and 6 dots on the mat.

    Activity 2: Color the Correct Tulip Task Cards -- Print and laminate the cards. There are 4 sets of cards, with 10 cards in each set. Students say the beginning sound of each picture and color the correct tulip in their recording sheet. Recording sheets and cards are marked to help avoid confusion.

    Activity 1: Cards for “Initial Sound Popcorn”

    Activity 1: Cards for “The Letter Sound Wizard” -- Print, cut and laminate the star letter cards and crystal ball picture cards. Glue each star to a craft stick. Students will say each letter sound and find the matching pictures.

    Activity 2: Beginning Sound Worksheets: Find & Cover -- Students dab/color/cover the pictures that have the same beginning sound as that of the letter.

    •Activity 3: What’s the Beginning Sound? -- Students say the beginning sound of each picture and write it on the ball. Plastic letters can be used.

    Activity 1: Cards for “Mailing Letters” -- Print, cut and laminate the mailboxes and picture cards. Students will say the sound of each letter and find the matching mails.

    Activity 2: Write the Letters -- Students use dry-erase markers to write the letters and stick the matching stamps.

    Activity 3: Mail Sorting -- Cut and paste beginning sound sorting. Sorts included: A-E, B-P, C-K, D-T, F-W, G-J, H-R, I-Y, L-R, M-N, O-U, Q-K, S-X, and V-B

    Activity 1: Collect the Sound Order -- Print, cut and laminate the letters and picture cards. Students will say each letter sound and find the matching pictures.

    Activity 2: What's Your Order? -- Print and laminate the mats.

    Print and laminate the food cards. Both upper and lower case letters are included.

    You can attach Velcro dots on mats and food letters.

    Students say the beginning sound of each picture and place the matching food letter.

    Activity 1: Collect acorns -- Print, cut and laminate the letters and picture cards. Students will say each letter sound and find the matching pictures.

    Activity 2: Find the Acorns With the Same Beginning Sound (7 Worksheets) -- Students color the acorns that have the same beginning sound and write the letter.

    Activity 1: Initial Sound Peanuts -- Students will say each letter sound and find the matching pictures.

    Activity 2: Feed the Elephant -- Students identify 3 pictures* that have the same beginning sound and place/write the corresponding letter in the box. *There are 2 pictures for x.

    Activity 3: Color the Correct Beginning Sound (6 worksheets) -- Students say the name of each picture and color the correct beginning sound.

    Activity 1: Cards for “Knitting With Beginning Sounds”: Print, cut and laminate the letter cards and yarn cards. Students will say each letter sound and find the pictures with the same initial sound. There are 5 pictures for each letter. Pictures included for X: x-ray, x-ray fish, fox, fix, and mix.

    Activity 2: Cards for “Find the Correct Yarn”: Print, cut and laminate the cards. Students will identify the sound of the pictures shown and place the matching letter card on the mat.

    There are 10 pictures for each letter. Both short and long vowel sounds are included. Exception: There are 6 pictures for X: 2 begin with and 4 end with.
