Alma FR1/2 Movie Talk Unit

I spend 2-3 days doing the movie talk and circling the vocabulary in the present tense before I start this movie talk. You can find the video by searching Alma on Youtube.

First page, the students rewrite scene descriptions underneath the correct screen shot and then order the scenes in chronological order.

I then spend a period asking questions about the video in the past tenses using prints of the screen shots. There are several group activities you can use the screen shots with. After the students have had lots of aural input of the past tense verbs, I do the CLOZE activity. (pages 3-4).

The students use the completed cloze and their previous knowledge to completed the worksheet on the fifth page--inferring the forms of the verbs in the past tenses.

The next two pages are a question chain activity to practice the past tense verbs more in a different context. The template is a free download from Martina Bex's Comprehensible Classroom.

I use the last page as an assessment, but it could also be used for more practice.

I did this movie talk for Halloween because it is a little creepy. The kids love it!
