Description

This free, awesome science fiction short story resource is great for exploring beautifully executed figurative language, the theme of bullying, and a fascinating setting. Students read a very short, very well-written short story All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury that is available free in easy-print format. ELA students analyze the text, make inferences, cite textual evidence, and find similes and metaphors in the reading comprehension exercise. They even consider what motivates students to bully others (analyzing character and theme). Your students will really enjoy this story!

Great for middle school. Great any time of year, but works well at the beginning of the school year to reflect on summer and consider the concept of bullying AND at the end of the school year as students are anticipating summer!

There is even a free 30-minute television adaptation of the story on YouTube that you can have students compare to the written version (CCRA.R.7)

Includes an answer key.

There is also an interactive Google Slides version for easy distance learning. Also easy to use with Easel, etc.
