All About Me Puzzle Piece- First Day of School Activity

This is an activity that I use with my 8th-12th grade severe special education classroom. This activity has students write, draw, type and find pictures on the computer. If you do not have access to the internet/computer students can just draw all of the pictures. I have some students who opt to do this completely on the computer using PowerPoint and copying and pasting pictures into the puzzle piece. This activity requires students write their name, favorite subject, favorite sport, hobby, favorite band/type of music, favorite TV/movie, grade, family members, favorite color and birthday. Students have to label each picture and then have to write a letter including all of this information. There is a rubric included. I hang all of these above my board and use them to help students with social greetings and interactions. We will refer back to them throughout the first month or so of school to help with writing/journaling. This activity can be used with younger grades or in inclusion classrooms as well.
