What educators are saying

This was a wonderful activity to use during the first couple of weeks of school. It made a beautiful display for Open House, as well. The students enjoyed watching their families try to figure out which one belonged to them!
I used this on the first day of school with my students! It was a great way to get to know them and see a little bit of what they know!

Description

These All About Me Math pennants are a great "Getting to Know You" activity to use in your math class. Students have to answer the "Math About Me" questions and then create number sentences to correlate with their answers. It is a fun alternative to a Getting to Know You Math worksheet!

This activity encourages students to use higher level thinking skills. I have included five different versions of the math pennants - perfect for primary and upper elementary students.

You can use these pennants in a variety of ways:

  • "Back to School" Bulletin Board
  • Use as a math center after teaching a unit
  • Students solve the mystery questions to learn more about their classmates.
  • Students can use the blank pennants to create their own questions {perfect for early finishers or gifted students}
  • Have students use the blank pennants to interview their parents and create a "Parent Math Mystery."

Here are some of the questions on the pennants:

  • Students have to answer the "Math About Me" questions and then create number sentences to correlate with their answers.
  • Letters in my first name
  • Number of siblings
  • My favorite number
  • Month I was born
  • Number of letters in my favorite holiday
  • Favorite day of the month
  • Year I was born
