Description

This BAT unit is perfect for reviewing non-fiction reading strategies with a focus on text features and main idea and key details. The unit begins with text feature slides/posters and moving around the classroom to hunt for text feature. Main idea and key details are reviewed prior to reading the included All About Bats presentation. A read aloud questioning guide is included with this text as well! After reading, students complete a bat craft and writing activity to reflect on their knowledge of main idea and key details. This craft would look perfect displayed in the classroom or on a bulletin board in the hall!

Look through the extras included at the end of this unit for an optional student booklet that corresponds with the included All About Bats presentation. You will also find passage activity sheets for additional main idea/details and text feature practice, as well as a bat snack and writing activity.
