Description

This is a "Air Pressure Systems- High and Low Air Pressure and Weather Reading Worksheets". Students read about what causes air pressure, how different barometers work, and how high and low pressure influence the weather and the clockwise or counterclockwise winds around each system. They use the reading to answer 2 pages of reading questions and complete an air pressure systems map. This assignment is for middle school or high school (8th-12th) Earth science classes.

This product contains 4 pages and a key.

  • Reading on Air Pressure- Pressure and Weather and Barometers
  • Two pages of reading questions
  • One weather forecasting map where students draw wind patterns around pressure systems and use the map to answer questions.

You can grade the assignment with the key or put copies of the key at the front of the room for students to check their own work when they have completed the packet. If you have students who struggle with reading, you can read the first page out loud and then let students work on their own. You can let students work in groups of two if you think they may need more support. This assignment was made with Virginia SOLs in mind but this topic is included in many state standards.
