Description

The Thanksgiving Feast project allows students to see the applicable way in which agriculture involves in their daily lives, but especially at Thanksgiving.

This project can be broken down into four main parts- The Menu, The Grocery List, The Decorations and The Dinner Time Discussion.


The Menu

-Students identify four food items for their Thanksgiving meal- snack, main entrée, side and dessert.

The Grocery List

-Students brainstorm and research the ingredients needed to complete the selected menu items.

-List ingredients by kind- dairy, grains, fruits and vegetables, meat and other.

-Research the highest producing state for each of the selected ingredient types and label a map of the US after identifying.

The Decorations

-Research a local agritourism destination close to a given location.

-Answer questions about the selected agritourism and the services provided.

-Hypothetically create an agritourism venture themselves.

The Dinner Time Discussion

-Research hot topics from the American Farm Bureau Federation- climate-smart farming, the farm bill and the right to repair.


This PDF is meant to be built upon each part but could easily be broken apart into different days, or just pick and choose what would most challenge your students!
