This unit is all about exploring the lives and experiences of racial and religious minorities in France. What activities are included in this resource?
- 3-page reading comprehension text on the complexity of race, banlieues, the history of immigration, laïcité, and French universalism. There are 2 additional pages of re-reading and post-reading activities
- A variety of engaging activities to analyze the Black experience in France, explore French slang, understand how the poverty cycle is perpetuated by French institutions
- An article all about Verlan
- Engaging jigsaw activity where students will learn about a specific topic by reading, listening, or watching. Two versions of this activity are included (Core French version with tons of scaffolding to decrease overwhelm and a French Immersion version with fewer supports).
- A one-pager project with rubrics in French and English
AP French Unit
I am frequently asked if this unit will be a good fit for AP French classes. Please note that I am not at all familiar with AP French units.
