Description

Some people call them do-nows. Others use the term bell-ringers. You might have heard them called warm-ups or sponges. Whatever the name they go by, these short Adobe Photoshop assignments are designed to teach and re-teach the fundamentals on a daily basis.

These activities will work with Adobe Photoshop Versions CS3 through CS5. A handful, like those dealing with the Mixer Brush, are for CS4 or later.

A wide range of Photoshop concepts, tools, and processes are covered

The PowerPoint is 100% editable. You can make any changes you need to, like changing the order or title of slides.

Just because they are short, doesn't mean they are easy. Many of these activities are meant to be teacher-guided. he best approach is to give kids a few minutes to try to figure it out, then guide them through it as much as necessary. They work best if you pass them out to students and guide them through it on a projector, smartboard or overhead. I like to guide them through one at the beginning of the period, then give them another, similar or identical one to do again by themselves the next day, or at the end of the period.

Sometimes, when working on big projects over an extended time of days or weeks, students lose focus because there is no sense of immediacy. They feel like they have plenty of time to get things done, so they procrastinate and goof-off. When that happens, I like to surprise them with one of these activities (which I copied ahead of time, two per page). I tell them it is due today, this period. Doing so brings them back to attention in a snap, and reinforces important concepts that are relevant to the current project.
