Addition with Regrouping

Through this standards based lesson from Catch My Products, I've broken down the steps to demonstrate regrouping with photographs of cubes, rods, and flats. I then give students four additional problems to work either with the class, with a friend, or individually, dependent on the class needs. Another two problems may be used for reteaching. At the end of the flipchart, five questions are given as an exit ticket. Teachers may reveal answers to the given problems by changing background color.

Subtracting Three Digit Numbers with Regrouping

This gradual release lesson takes students through the process of subtracting three digit numbers with regrouping. The flip chart also contains multiple problems involving borrowing across zeros because this is where kids seem to have the most difficulty. After the students complete problems to show their knowledge, they are given a word problem with a writing prompt to encourage students to make an inference. This flip chart, for Promethean board use, from Catch My Products also contains a check for understanding and two problems to reteach incase students need further practice.

Subtraction with Regrouping

This flip chart, for Promethean board use, breaks down regrouping with colorful slides with photos of cubes. I admit to being in a goofy mood when writing this, so it's a fun lesson that the kids will enjoy. Students are given several problems to solve and a six problem exit ticket.

Adding and Subtracting Word Problems

This flip chart, for Promethean board use, contains four word problems and a review slide of adding & subtracting with regrouping. It also contains two fun questions with funny answers. It was used with intellectually gifted students.
