Topic: Solve One Step Addition Word Problems.

Comprises of two sections:

Section #1 worksheets (Solve 6 word problems) - Pictorial drawings including bar/block models are provided to

- let students understand what need to be solved

- guide students to construct mathematical sentences

- find the answers.

Section #2 worksheets (Solve 8 word problems) - Students interpret and express word problems by drawing it out into bar/block models. Construct mathematical sentences and find the answers.

The ability to interpret and express word problems is important. It reinforces students’ comprehension of word problems. This helps to lay a strong problem solving skill foundation as students progress to tackle more challenging problems in higher level.

Good practice for solving word problems for addition within 100 to addition within 1000.

Updated May 2017:

- expand addition concept to add within 100 and 1000.

- removed number bonds and replaced with bar model exercises.

- add on 8 more word problem exercises for practice under section #2.
