Description
"Looking For A Ten" is a three and a half minute, karaoke style music video, that students can sing along with to help learn their "tens" addition facts.
It is based on the game of bowling. After you knock over so many pins, how many do you have left? It is a little different take on the traditional "ten-frame" idea.
This would make a good introduction to the "tens" addition facts, or another way to reinforce and review the concept.
K-2 have all used this song at my school. It's probably perfect for 1st grade.
Common Core: K.OA.4, 1.OA.6, & 2.OA.2
The video integrates music, math, reading, and animation. You can use it as daily practice, part of a lesson, review of the steps, PE warmup, clean-up song, or just for fun.
The zipped folder contains an mp4 file and a PDF file with an activity to go along with the song. The activity involves rolling a ten sided die to simulate bowling. The students then color in the number of pins and complete a "ten fact" for the pins they knocked down on their roll. A ten sided die template is also included.
The video can be played on an interactive whiteboard, computer monitor, iPod, iPad, etc.

Special note: Windows Media Player needs a free codec pack installed to play mp4 files. I highly recommend the free VLC media player.
