About this lesson series

This active reading is part of a larger series. While it is structured around the PA Keystone Biology exam, the content crosses over with most introductory biology courses.

I’ve used readings like these as a replacement for a textbook in my biology classroom. I find that when my students can really interact with the text—marking it up, highlighting passages, diagramming in the margins—they get a more complete understanding of the subject matter.

What makes this lesson series special?

☑ Hands-on style makes the lesson more accessible to kinesthetic and visual learners.

☑ Pacing and lesson delivery can be adjusted to suit your students’ needs.

☑ Review sheets challenge students with a variety of question types, including multiple choice, yes/no, short answer, diagramming, term matching, and essay questions.
