What educators are saying

This play worked very well with my students since we study a large unit about Abraham Lincoln. The students really enjoyed this resource.

Description

Reader’s Theater
This is a contemporary play about a day that Abraham Lincoln unexpectedly visits a (3rd, 4th or 5th grade) classroom. It is written with up to 25 student parts, a teacher and of course Abraham Lincoln. The parts can be doubled or tripled if there are fewer than 25 students.
This play helps students to understand a little bit about the life of Lincoln by comparing his life to ours. It ends with the group reciting in unison the first part of the Gettysburg Address.
Setting: A regular upper-elementary classroom with desks and chairs, of course a flag, a globe and some other classroom
props to enhance authenticity.
Characters: Teacher (can be played by the classroom teacher or one of the students).
Students (any number up to 25) Abraham Lincoln
Costumes: All students and the teacher dress for a regular school day. Abraham Lincoln will need his signature stove top hat with
some papers in it. (I purchased and inexpensive Lincoln costume on-line).
