Description

Students will read the "Remember the Ladies" letter Abigail Adams wrote to John Adams, answer 16 questions, and complete a creative task. There is also a 3 part vocabulary activity for students to complete. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:

--Explain what Abigail means when refers to the “common enemy.” You must say more than England/King George.

--Summarize the historical context that makes the paragraph about Boston, their house, and small pox relevant to Adams.

--Why would Abigail feel correct, or justified, in saying, “That your Sex are Naturally Tyrannical is a Truth?”

--What conclusions can be drawn about John and Abigail’s relationship from her words? You must reference 2 different items in the letter in your answer.

--In what ways would a female peer of Abigail's have disagreed with the sentiments expressed in this letter and why?

*Abigail's original spelling has been preserved for authenticity.*
