Description

Why use a WICOR tracker?

WICOR stands for writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading. Asking yourself and your students if we did any of the 5 parts of WICOR is a simple way to close to your lessons. Put the WICOR tracker in a sheet protector or laminate it and hang it in a visible place in your classroom. I like to hang mine on my whiteboard at the front of the room. At the end of your lesson, simply grab a whiteboard marker and tally or check off each letter of WICOR if it was done during the lesson. Ask your students, did we do any writing? Inquiry? Collaboration? Organization? Reading?

After asking each question, I like to have my students think independently about when or if we did that part of WICOR? I then ask them to share with an elbow buddy or call on a few students to share their thoughts and examples.

Using the WICOR tracker is a perfect way to close and wrap up your lessons.
