⭐️ SUGGESTIONS FOR USE:
1. Open each syllabus to see the color scheme and content. Click “View,” “Zoom,” and “100%” to be able to see each syllabus better!
2. Decide which class you want to use each one for and begin modifying the syllabus for your class.
3. Remember, these syllabi are editable, so you may add or delete slides and add links! For example, you may want to insert an acknowledgement page for student and parent signatures, or you could just make a Google Form for students and parents to acknowledge reading your syllabus. I have never found this useful with independent high school students and don’t make students or parents sign my syllabus anymore. Instead, I ask students questions to make sure they got the most important information. A fun way to do this is to make a group scavenger hunt/trivia with questions about your syllabus. And/or you could add these questions to the last page of your syllabus.
4. Present these slides to your class either face-to-face or in a video conference if you are using blended or distance learning, send them to students as a “view only” or PDF copy, and/or use the slides to make a video of yourself (record in a video conference or Loom or Screencastify) explaining the info on the slides and then share with your students.
⭐️ Tip: It’s better to download the slides to a PDF and then share the PDF with your students. If you prefer to share the Google Slides with your students, tell them it will be easier to see if they click “View,” “Zoom,” and “100%.”
⭐️ IMPORTANT NOTES:
- These are NOT "official" AVID syllabi. Use the content on these syllabi as suggestions/ideas to supplement your curriculum as you are allowed or prefer and modify each syllabus to meet your program requirements and preferences.
- Headings are not editable, but all of the body text is!
- When putting in your text and making changes, it will be so much easier to see the text if you go to "View" and "Zoom" and click 100%.
- There is limited text space in each section of the syllabus so you will need to be selective about what you say and keep it brief. This is a good thing! Students will probably not read it all if it is too long!
- Links to the Google Slides presentations are given on the directions PDF included in your purchase. You may also download the slides to PowerPoint without losing any formatting.
