Description

Kinder teachers! Are you teaching the alphabet? You NEED this! Finally, AVID Elementary notes for Kindergarten made easy. If you are teaching the alphabet this AVID notes template is an easy way to get more note-taking practice into your day with way less headache.

Each AVID note-taking page is designated to one letter (lowercase and uppercase are both on the same page, but it is completely editable, so you can change that if you only want to focus on one at a time).

The AVID note pages are quick to print and easy to use. Students will write the uppercase and lowercase letters underneath the model. They also have a large space to draw pictures of objects with the letter they are taking notes on. (You could even have them go on a letter hunt around your classroom and have them draw items they see that start with that letter.) This ensures students are engaged and can take some responsibility for their own learning during the note-taking process. If you'd rather model and have them copy your picture, that is completely fine too. The bottom two lines on the AVID note-taking page can be used for more handwriting practice by writing the uppercase and lowercase letters or students can write a sentence that matches their picture practicing their letters with a deeper level of understanding.

I also recommend using these AVID notes to show progress at parent-teacher conferences. You can show the growth of handwriting, note-taking, sentence writing... so many skills!

There are two versions of the AVID note-taking template. The first version is all black and white. The second version has a highlighted strip to help students focus on handwriting skills by getting their letters between the baseline and midline.
