Ages 8+

The is an excerpt from Auditory Processing and Word Retrieval Workbook for RTI, Therapy, and Assessment sold through Amazon, which consists of 158 pages. The TPT version provides worksheets that can be used to evaluate English and Spanish speakers’ ability to process verbally presented information and to recall that information in a quick and accurate manner. Cloze activities are included to aid in recalling information by using context clues. Five themes are targeted in both languages, including animals, household items, school items, vehicles, and food items. The worksheets can also be used to guide therapy and track progress for RTI purposes in upper elementary, middle school, and high school. Speech therapists and special education teachers can include the findings in the IEP and Progress Report as a measure of performance. Parents may utilize this workbook as a homework plan to improve their child’s auditory processing skills.

WHAT GOALS/OBJECTIVES ARE TARGETED IN THE COMPLETE WORKBOOK?

The following objectives are among many that can be targeted during this activity:

· increase vocabulary knowledge in the categories of animals, household items, school items, vehicles, and food items

· recall a series of 3- to 5-words in sequence (not included)

· repeat sentences of 6+ words given minimal repetitions

· increase mean length of utterance to 6+ words

· answer “wh” questions from verbally presented sentences

· recall details from verbally presented sentences

· understand and express the definition of target words

· recall labels of common objects given context clues

· complete cloze activities by recalling nouns and verbs

· recall details from verbal passages

· summarize verbal passages by stating at least 4 parts in sequence

· use imagery skills to improve memory by drawing and coloring a scene from auditorily presented paragraphs

· complete word association tasks (not included)

· express similarities and differences between associated words (not included)
