Description

This AP Spanish Language and Culture syllabus is based on the newly updated version of Vista Higher Learning AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam Preparation booklet and Temas. The Syllabus includes the novels, “La tierra del tiempo perdidoby José María Merino, Senderos Fronterizosby Francisco Jimenez, and Marianela by Benito Pérez Galdós but you can add your own novels. It also includes the textbook, “Temas” but you can insert your own textbook. It was updated on September 15th, 2021 to align with the new curricular requirements. This syllabus has been approved by the College Board.

This AP Spanish Language and Culture Syllabus is based on the Test-Prep book, “Vista Higher Learning”. Therefore, you must purchase and use that book.

Below are the College Board Curricular Requirements:

  •  CR1: The teacher uses Spanish almost exclusively in class and encourages students to do likewise.
  • CR2:The course provides opportunities for students to engage in interdisciplinary course content and develop skills through six required themes: Families and Communities, Personal and Public Identities, Beauty and Aesthetics, Science and Technology, Contemporary Life, and Global Challenges.
  • CR3: The course provides opportunities for students to demonstrate an understanding of the products, practices, and perspectives of the target cultures.
  • CR4: The course provides opportunities for students to make cultural comparisons.
  • CR5: Instructional materials include a variety of authentic audio, visual, and audiovisual sources and authentic written texts.
  • CR6: The course provides opportunities for students to practice and develop the skills in Skill Category 1: Comprehend written, audio, audiovisual, and visual text.
  • CR7: The course provides opportunities for students to practice and develop the skills in Skill Category 2: Make interdisciplinary and cultural connections.
  • CR8: The course provides opportunities for students to practice and developthe skills in Skill Category 3: Interpret the content of written and audio text.
  • CR9: The course provides opportunities for students to practice and developthe skills in Skill Category 4: Make meanings from words and expressions.
  • CR10: The course provides opportunities for students to practice and developthe skills in Skill Category 5: Communicate interpersonally by speaking with others.
  • CR11: The course provides opportunities for students to practice and developthe skills in Skill Category 6: Communicate interpersonally by writing to others.
  • CR12: The course provides opportunities for students to practice and developthe skills in Skill Category 7: Communicate through spoken presentations.
  • CR13: The course provides opportunities for students to practice and developthe skills in Skill Category 8: Communicate through written presentations.
  • CR14: The course prepares students to use the target language in real-life situations.
