Reading Quizzes: Myers 2nd Edition & Myers 3rd Edition Included

I start class by flipping a coin to determine if the students will take a reading quiz for points or practice retrieval questions for no points. The variability of not knowing really keeps students focused on completing the reading. Retrieval questions are in my PowerPoints, not in this product. This product is just reading quizzes which are 5 short answer questions for each module in the unit. There is an answer key in each slide with the page number of the answer in the textbook. This is not meant to take up more than 3-5 minutes of class time but it increases the accountability of students doing the reading each night. I found that if I just randomly check the reading guides the students copy each other's work more. I try to focus the questions on what we aren't covering in class and what is important to know for the exam, but I also pick really obscure/specific info to keep them on their toes. The questions are in a PowerPoint format so you can just post it on the board and save a lot of time by not making copies/passing out copies.

It doesn't matter to me how the coin flips because all the quizzes are prepared and ready to go! You could also just flip a coin to determine whether you are or aren't taking the quiz (no retrieval questions).
