AP Psychology | FRQ Scaffold & FRQ Workshop

After I attended the Pre-AP conference by College Board I realized just how important scaffolds are to building our student's skills. I reflected about my AP course and how I could implement more scaffolds for students. I created a scaffold for the AP Psychology FRQ to guide students through the pre-writing and writing process. The students use the scaffold during unit tests (FRQ section) in the first semester and during the second semester they are confident to do it on their own. I also teach a FRQ workshop during the first semester to familiarize students with the expectations of it. You will download the scaffold and the slides for the workshop.

I plan to teach this workshop in the Scientific Foundations of Psychology unit since it will be their first exposure to writing a FRQ in the unit test. I plan to revisit the workshop during review for the AP Exam.
