Description

This circuit contains 32 problems that cover all of AP Calculus Unit 5 - Analytical Applications of the Derivative (Mean Value Theorem, Absolute Extrema, Relative Extrema, Increasing/Decreasing Intervals, Concavity, Second Derivative Test, Connecting Graphs of a Function and its Derivative, Optimization, Behavior of Graphs of Implicit Relations).

To allow for greater flexibility, the circuit is provided in three forms. The first is the complete 32 problem circuit. The second is 17 questions covering the first half of Unit 5 (Mean Value Theorem, Absolute Extrema, Relative Extrema, Increasing/Decreasing Intervals, Concavity). The third is 15 problems covering the second half of Unit 5 (Second Derivative Test, Connecting Graphs of a Function and its Derivative, Optimization, Behavior of Graphs of Implicit Relations).

I give this circuit to my students at the end of the unit for review, but then give it to them again at the end of the year to prepare for the AP Exam!

This circuit also makes for a great sub plan or emergency lesson plan!

What’s even better Solutions are provided! Sometimes you just need something quick and easy to make life a bit easier, especially in the world of teaching Calculus! And while I do think teachers should work the circuits out themselves prior to giving to students (that way you can experience/encounter any algebra issues or common missteps), the solutions allow a nudge in the right direction if anyone gets stuck!
