ACT is a behavioral therapy with the aim of accepting what is out of your personal control, and committing to taking action on the things that you can control to enrich your life. ACT aims to develop and expand psychological flexibility with emotional openness and the ability to adapt your thoughts and behaviors to better align with your values and goals.

The six core processes that promote psychological flexibility are, mindfulness, values, commitment, self as context, defusion and acceptance.
