What educators are saying

This is seriously an amazing book. It makes everything so much easier to understand. It goes over everything they need to know, but it also doesn't drag everything out.

Description

This is the most current, efficient, and helpful grammar book that you'll find. I created it specifically for my ACT and SAT prep students, but it's a fantastic resource for any ELA teacher or high school student. I recommend using this book to learn the concepts tested on the exams. Then, I would recommend completing official practice tests to continue preparing for the exam. This book is specific to the ACT English section and the grammar questions on the Digital SAT Reading and Writing modules. This book is also a great quick reference guide when writing essays. I made sure to include all tested grammar topics in the most efficient manner possible. In fact, I am in the process of uploading YouTube videos that show me working through each chapter and the videos for the first five chapters are less than 2 hours in total. There are 17 chapters in total.

Update: This new edition includes information specific to the Digital SAT as well as the ACT.

Book Highlights:

  • Detailed study plans for multiple study scenarios (e.g. cramming, 1 month before your exam, 2+ months before your exam)
  • Exam-specific study plans (e.g. Digital SAT and ACT)
  • Grammar cheat sheet for each specific exam (including tips for rhetorical skills questions on the ACT English section)
  • Chapters and examples for every topic tested on the ACT English section
  • Chapters and examples for all the grammar concepts tested on the Digital SAT Reading and Writing modules
  • Practice quizzes
  • A review test at the end of the book (ACT version and Digital SAT version)

My goal with this book is to help students learn a few crucial strategies rather than a million nuanced strategies that they will never remember on test day. A lot of students think they need to learn every little strategy that applies to the SAT or ACT in order to be successful; however, that is not true. In fact, I have found that students who try to do this rather than focusing on mastering a few crucial strategies tend to perform worse on their exams. If you want a perfect score and have a lot of time on your hands, then feel free to learn every single strategy out there, but understand that I have worked with students scoring in the high 30s on the ACT and the 1500s on the SAT just using a few key strategies.

Important Information: This book covers all concepts tested on the ACT English section; however, only about a third of the Digital SAT Reading and Writing questions cover the conventions of standard English and choosing the most logical transition. The rest of the Digital SAT Reading and Writing questions are more comprehension-based. Therefore, those questions and concepts did not fit within the scope of a grammar book. I will be releasing resources for those other types of questions in the future.
