ACT Prep: English, Reading, and Writing: Full Year Curriculum Structure

I was tasked this year with teaching an ACT Prep course focused on the ELA portion of the test without being provided with a specific curriculum my school wanted me to follow.

I purchased the 2022-2023 manual and I used the structure within to layout a year-long course to work students through the macro- and microcosms of skills the manual specified that students would need.

The pacing is based on a four Quarter structure, one Section devoted to each three Quarter with a Pre- and Post-Test given at beginning and end. Data will need to be derived from these assessments throughout the year in order to determine the trajectory that best suits your students' revealed needs and deficiencies.

Additionally, at the beginning and end of Quarter 4, Pre- and Post-Tests are given that are comprised of all three sections for a final grab for data.

In keeping with the flow of this curriculum and providing the Pre- and Post- tests as a means of gathering data, by the end of this course, you should have for students a detailed report of their growth and thereby a year-end recommendation of readiness for immediate testing or an indicated need for more tutoring in specific areas before attempting the test.
