ACE Reading Strategy: How to Write Constructive Response READING Prompts
Do your students run out of lines when answering prompts on their standardized test? Are you looking for a way to teach, “how to cite evidence?” Try teaching the ACE acronym: Answer, Cite, Explain.
At first, I was using the RACE acronym, but by the time my students “Restated” the question, they were almost out of lines to “Answer” the question or even “Cite” evidence. So, I switched to the ACE strategy.
This product includes:
-3 posters that detail the steps of the ACE strategy for answering constructed response questions.
-8 different color options and 2 different black/white options
-6 sentence stems (speech bubbles) to help students cite evidence.
-6 sentence stems (speech bubbles) to help students explain connection between their answer and evidence.
-Anchor chart
-Personal reference for students to keep
-Writing organizer used as an answering sheet
