ABC Acorns: Alphabet Recognition and Alphabet Writing Activities

Description
1.Match game-Make 2 copies of black and whiteCapital letter cards or lowercase letter cards. Cut one set of letter cards apart. Mix up cards. Student takes a card, matches it to the uncut letter card, names the letter and colors the acorn.
2. Group lotto game-Copy letter cards onto cardstock, one for each student playing and one set to be cut into playing cards. First player draws a letter card, names it, shows it to the other players and they all find it on their game board. All students place a manipulative on that letter or colors the acorn in. Second player picks the next letter card and continue on until all letter cards are used.
3. Individual or group lotto game-Student picks a letter card, names it, finds it on his/her game board and either colors it with
crayons, markers, bingo markers or paints it with watercolors.
4. ABC Order– Student cuts out capital or lowercase cards,
mixes them up and puts them in ABC order.
5. Write the missing ABC or abc letter.
6. Colored copies can be placed in a clear plastic protector and played the same way as with the black and white copies.
7. Acorn Trees-Individual or group game
Game A-Using the black and white tree, pick either the capital or lowercase letters and the corresponding letter cards. Students pick a letter card, name it, find it on the acorn and color in the acorn. Keep playing until all acorns are filled in.
Game B-Use either the red tree(capital letters) or the yellow tree(lowercase letters) and the corresponding letter cards. Students pick a card, name it and find it on the acorn and put a counter or small manipulative on the acorn. Continue play until all acorns have a counter on it.
