Description

This lesson really gets your students thinking about the impact they have on the environment. Students start out with a bag of trash (random items provided by the teacher) and have to figure out what can be recycled and what cannot. They will learn about landfills and how they are built (video link provided). Students will also learn about the word "decompose" and do an activity where they guess how long household items would take to decompose in a landfill. Lots of video links are provided in this lesson- How long do things take to decompose? Also a very eye-opening video documentary showing the impact of human trash on albatross birds. This lesson is perfect for Earth Day!
