Description

This 4 ½ - 6 week novel study will guide students through an imaginative exploration and critical analysis of Madeleine L’Engle’s Newberry Award Winning book, A Wrinkle in Time. Students will be challenged to think deeply about the book’s themes and respond thoughtfully through written work and oral discussions. Their imaginations will be stretched and their critical thinking skills will be developed on a daily basis. The study is divided into three segments: Chapters 1-4, Chapters 5-8, and Chapters 9-12. During each segment, students will explore various aspects of the story through interactive comprehension activities, engaging discussions, and personal applications. After each segment, students will be formally assessed on their comprehension of the plot, character development, themes, and vocabulary. In conclusion, students will demonstrate their cumulative learning by completing and presenting 3 mini-projects of their choice. Through this story filled with beauty, truth and love, students will develop a keener sense of what these abstract ideas look like in the world around them and grow in their appreciation for literature.
