What educators are saying

It was helpful to have the video/text match ups. And students love Kahoot, so the quizzes/reviews were great.

Description

This complete unit plan includes all lessons, is perfect for encouraging critical thinking, and builds to a final literary analysis essay. This classic text is vital for exploring race, class and gender. Lorraine Hansberry is required reading for pretty much any human, and this play is some of her finest work.

A “Raisin in the Sun” is a story that rises and crescendos into one of the most powerful and yet understated climaxes in all of playwriting. In this unit, students explore the themes and characters through personal connection, performance and written reflection. Each lesson has a link to the section of play that accompanies the lesson (this makes it easy to assign online if needed, just post the text and the writing assignments). Each lesson is designed to take about an hour, though it can be easily adjusted depending on how you use the materials.

I use an engaging, easy-to-use lesson structure. The benefit of this continuity is that your students will always have clear guidelines for success (and you will have a clear structure to follow as a teacher). This unit is designed to be taught whether your school stays open, closed, or decides on a hybrid model. The core success of this bundle is in the lesson plan structure, which you can continue no matter what teaching setting you have.
