Description

A modern day twist on a classic tale, a completely at-home creating experience, for all of the cast.

K-12, or above, friendly!

This script is a completely at-home student film that uses green screens and student cameras (computers, phones, etc). Students will use different camera angles and direction in order to film their acting. Alternatively, (but not required) students can practice their animation skills within select scenes. Then, the media can be pieced together in post.

The price of the script is a flat-fee. There is not a per-performance or per-cast member fee. Please do not share the printed copies with other schools or other directors, but reference them to my TPT page. If you perform the play, send me a video! I'd love to see it!

The versatile script has a cast of 14, and every cast member can be played by either a male or a female. There are 9 scenes and the length of the script is 41 pages. This script can also be easily converted into an in-person play with minimal props and stage set up.

The script is completely original, but does play off of similar themes. There is a teenage main character (7th grade) who doesn't want to log into their Zoom meetings, has not been participating in school, and generally, has been a jerk. Mom (who can also easily be changed to a Dad) is trying her best to find her son after Ducky (the main character) is "kidnapped" (or, as the Ghost of Covid Present says "removed from the timeline in an effort to procure a positive outlook on life and to be a better person").

The play is a coming-of-age comedy with heart.

This student short film can be performed and displayed year-round, and can be a great Christmas or end-of-the-year story.

Use a green screen (bright green felt also works well and can be purchased at a craft store by the yard) or a blank wall, and an editing software like iMovie, Lightworks, or Adobe to put together this awesome student film.

Additional props are minimal:

  • A green screen (2-3 yards of bright green felt) for Ducky, 3 Ghosts, Mom, Pat Oswald (optional for filming, but preferred)
  • An green-screen friendly video/audio editing software like iMovie, Lightworks, or Adobe
  • A card that says “So you’ve been visited...what’s next” on the front and on the back there is a phone number, printed for Mom, Pat, Ghost of Covid Past, and Ducky
  • Coffee cups and coffee pot (or something similar)
