Through this packet, students write the following types of poetry: Poetry Definition Poem, Anti-Definition Poem, Picture Poems, Haiku, 2-Line Poems, Found Poem, Blackout Poetry, Sonnet, Prose Poem, Memory Poem, Child to Parent Poem and a Bio Poem.

    Poetry Unit Lesson Plans – 15 unique lesson plans for easy implementation. Lessons are low prep and employ the Reader’s Writer’s Workshop format. The lesson plan format includes a mini-lesson, student independent work time and closing. Each lesson also clearly lays out materials needed and homework assignments.     Analyzing Poetry Packet – Students define poetry terms, apply them by writing mini-poems demonstrating each term, learn a traditional poetry analysis, study and analyze a variety of sample poems, and take a quiz to apply their learning (answer key provided).

    Editable Poetry Portfolio Assignment –Provides guidelines and a scoring guide for a student-created poetry portfolio. This is a perfect conclusion to the poetry unit and can be edited to fit your needs!

    Editable Poetry Quiz – Students study poetry terms in their packet and take a quiz in which they apply and demonstrate their learning. An answer key is provided!
