OVER 70 MOVEMENT BREAKS!!!
A dance/movement post for every day of the week for up to 9 weeks! Some "days of the week" provide videos for up to 16 weeks. Movement breaks, dance stories, dance performances, and mini-dance lessons.
Excellent to post as asynchronous work, use as a brain break, or pop on the screen at lunch time.
- Mondays and Fridays are Dance Along days such as a GoNoodle, Just Dance, or Zumba video. 12 weeks, 24 videos, 3 to 8 minutes long each
- Tuesdays are dance stories with often a movement extension activity described below the link. Stories reflect a variety of dance styles from Classical Indian Dance, to Traditional Mexican Folk Dance, to ballet and modern dance, to creative movement inspired stories. 16 weeks, 22 videos, 3-20 minutes long
- Wednesdays are Partnership with New Victory Theater days! On Wednesdays students will engage with New Victory Teaching Artists as they watch a short dance from diverse dance companies - from IMGE Dance Company to Kate Weare Dance Company. After watching a short dance clip, students will listen to a talk back about the piece and engage in movement inspired by the dance watched. 14 weeks/videos, about 20 minutes long
- Thursday are Teaching Artist Thursdays - With artists from American Ballet Theatre , New Victory Theatre, Elmo, and more. Here students will be led in movement breaks by teaching artists of community organizations. 9 weeks, 14 videos, 3-20 minutes long.
Please note: I did not create the videos supplied. I compiled the videos into an Excel document. Each day a title for the post, a description describing the activity, and the video link are provided. If content was deemed more difficult multiple stories or videos are provided and differentiated by grade for that day.
