Description

Switching to Standards-Based Grading could not be easier!!! I've done a lot of the ground-work... just plug this in to your curriculum and move right along!

After scouring the Common Core standards, I chunked and categorized them into 4 categories with 17 objectives. The objectives include the following 4 categories: Articulating Comprehension, Computation, Real World Application and Financial Literacy, and Tables and Graphs. Organizing the standards this way reduces the amount of guesswork or time taken to score assignments and assessments. I use these same 17 rubrics to score EVERYTHING I assign within my class. Students know what to expect every time, and I can clearly articulate to parents and students where their strengths and weakness are. This was designed for use in 6th grade, but could easily be adapted to other grade levels by using similar category types to sort the skills called for in the common core standards.

We use infinite campus, and I can and would be very willing to explain how this scoring guide and system can be easily recorded in your record-keeping system. Just email me. :)

Within the four categories are the following 17 objectives (clearly pulled straight from the common core standards)... In the category "Articulating Comprehension": Explaining Basic Number Sense, Explaining Algebraic Structures, Explaining Geometry, Explaining Number Relationships, Explaining Data Analysis; In the category "Computing": Basic Computation, Algebraic Strcture Computation, Geometry Computation, Computing Data; In the category "Real World Application and Financial Literacy": Applying Number Sense, Applying Algebraic Structures, Applying Geometry, Applying Data Analysis; In the category "Tables and Graphs": Number Sense, Algebraic Structure, Data Analysis.

This product is the actual scoring guide for all those objectives outlined in the common core standards. I have given clear descriptors for each of the following four columns: Advanced, Proficient, Progressing, Beginning (4,3,2,1).

Make sure you check out the other assignments and assessments that I post which correlate with this rubric. It should make the SBG transition very easy!
