THE STORY:
You and a few friends excitedly knock on the door of 221B Baker Street in London to meet your favorite detective Sherlock, when the door creaks open! Tentatively you step inside and start up the stairs. As you enter the study Mrs. Hudson breathlessly appears behind you and exclaims, “We’ve been expecting you! Sherlock and Watson have left you with a challenge! If you accept you will have the opportunity to meet them both in person. All the clues you need are located in the study." She concludes with, "Will you accept the challenge?" You begin to explore the study and then slowly respond to Mrs. Hudson, “Yes, we believe we will…this is a most unusual challenge, a most unusual challenge indeed.”
What's inside:
- ⭐CLUE #1: Examine Evidence: Players will click on various points of interest in a set of papers left on Sherlock's desk. From the information, they gather they will come to a conclusion as to a famous case Sherlock is currently working on. A hint will appear after approximately 90 seconds.
- ⭐CLUE #2: Footprint Evidence: Players will match 6 suspect shoe prints with the culprit’s shoe print writing down the letter of each suspect in order as they go. The answer is those letters in order.
- ⭐CLUE #3: Decode Cipher: Decode a Vigenere cipher then solve one to get the answer to this lock. Hint will appear after approximately 90 seconds.
- ⭐CLUE#4: Deductive Reasoning: Players will solve three deductive reasoning problems with multiple-choice options. They can click until they get the answer correct. When all three are answered correctly the answer to the clue will appear.
- ⭐CLUE #5: Think Like Sherlock: Map and Coordinates. Find the five locations on the map and will note the coordinates for each location. The answer is the coordinates in order.
- ⭐CLUE #6: Solve a Riddle: Players will solve the riddle to find a hidden object and solve the escape!
Remember this is supposed to be a challenge! Allow the players to think for a while before giving more hints! This is where critical thinking skills come in. For the harder puzzles, hints are included, but won’t appear until 90 seconds have passed.

Digital Escape Room Tip for Teachers:
There are many times when students will need to rely on reading instructions to get them to the next step. They will want you to give them the answers, but all the information is there for them to discover. Breaking students into teams really helps keep kids engaged and allows them to collaborate making this kind of activity even more fun. You will need to open both the PDF and the Easel Activity to access the link to the escape/instructions, as well as assign the digital notes sheet in Easel if you want the answers.
