6 Elementary Art Lessons Inspired by Women Artists

Your kindergarten through 5th grade art students will be engaged in painting, drawing, crayon resist, oil pastel, collage, relief sculpture and more while learning about influential women artists. These elementary art lesson plans will cover 2-3 weeks of planning. The students will learn some fun facts and be engaged in art critiques of artwork by: Alma Thomas, Bridget Riley, Georgia O'Keeffe, Louise Nevelson, Yayoi Kusama and Sonia Delauney. The PowerPoint slides and/or PDF slides includes art vocabulary (elements of art and principles of design), lesson objectives, materials needed, "I can" statements, step by step slides and a video art tutorial for each lesson. Some of the lessons include handouts to spark creativity and imagination, other handouts include templates for tracers if you wish to use them. This package will yield a well rounded, beautiful display for Women's History Month in March or anytime. Enjoy!
