What does Sally’s “gradual release model” entail?

    • Sally’s lessons follow an “I Do, We Do, You Do” format.  A math concept is introduced whole group, students then practice with a partner, and finish with independent work time.  This deliberate scaffolding keeps students from feeling defeated or frustrated!
    • Sally’s packets also build slowly in difficulty.  We meet students where they are, regardless of level.  As students gain confidence, the problems get progressively harder.  Not all students will complete all problems and that is by design!
    • Each packet finishes with a “Challenge Page” for anyone who needs something extra!  Multiple pages of practice are included in every lesson to avoid early finishers.

In addition to the deliberate scaffolding, each 5th grade volume practice packet includes an instructional guide is jam-packed with teaching hacks and best practices.  There is also a “Misconceptions” section that allows you to be one step ahead of mistakes students are most likely to make!

This 5th Grade Volume Practice Bundle is common core aligned to 5.MD.3, 5.MD.4, and 5.MD.5 (measuring volume of rectangular prisms and solving volume word problems).
