Description

Included in this file are three enrichment activities: "Food Webs & Chains vs. Eco-Disasters", "Create Your Own Atom & Element", and "Newton's Laws of Motion: Balloon Racers". Within the first activity, students will examine the human impact upon a particular ecosystem and its organisms via a flow chart format. In activity #2, students will create their own element, modeling it after an element found on the Periodic Table. Once their elements have been "invented", they will each create a 3-D model of an atom, utlizing a variety of materials to represent protons, neutrons, electrons, and shells. The final activity relates to Newton's Laws of Motion, and involves creating a "Balloon Racer". Basic instructions, a materials list, and tip sheet are included, as well as a data chart, instructions for calculating velocity, and a self-evaluation sheet.....great fun in the classroom, while applying the 3rd Law of Motion! "Race Day" is the culminating activity for this self-motivating, hands-on Science unit!
