This 50 task card set focused on Figurative Language has tremendously helped my students! The different elements of Figurative Language can be difficult for students to remember. My students always struggle with identifying them as well as being able to create their own. I created these task cards to help students learn the different types of figurative language.

Each card includes an example of either personification, a simile, a hyperbole, alliteration, or an idiom.

My students love working with these cards. After using them for a little while they really get the hang of identifying the different elements. The best part about using these flash cards is that I have seen a correlation with the impact it has made in their writing! After practicing with these cards, and becoming comfortable with the different aspects of Figurative Language, my students are using them creatively in their writing. These are great for independent practice, group work, partner work, intervention, and even whole class!
