What educators are saying

I used this to do a topic/theme review. My students really liked it, but I wish the melodies were a little more modern. Gen Z has no idea who or what the Pink Panther is.
My students love bingo and we had a great time using this! Spotify playlist was fun, but there were a couple extra songs that weren't included on the cards.

Description

Combine a game of Bingo with a game of music memory, and you get 5-Second Song Bingo! This game is not only great for music classes, but also any general ed or homeroom class that is looking for a fun twist on a classic game. PERFECT FOR END OF YEAR PARTIES, BACK TO SCHOOL, FACULTY/STAFF PARTIES AND GAMES, SUMMER SCHOOL, and MORE!

This resource includes:

  • 30 randomized player cards featuring 25-30 recognizable and prominent movie themes.
  • 1 Callers Card for the teacher to keep track of songs played and winning cards.
  • 1 custom Spotify playlist with Spotify code included on Callers Card page.

This game is designed to be played exactly like any classic game of Bingo, except there are no extra titles (no blackout games). Here are the rules:

  1. Caller uses the Spotify playlist on shuffle to play the first 5 seconds of each song. Songs can be repeated. Song are only meant to be played up to 5 seconds. It is up to you whether you want to play more of the song, or discuss titles with players.
  2. Players will mark the song they think has played. They must guess the song based on the first 5 seconds of the song. It is up to the teacher (caller) whether or not to play more of the song, or discuss song titles.
  3. Depending on the type of game (lines, T's, Four Corners), the game round ends when a player fills in all boxes needed for a bingo, and shouts out "BINGO!".
  4. Players MUST check their card with the caller BEFORE THE NEXT song is played in order to verify they marked the correct songs without cheating.
  5. If the song selections are incorrect or the bingo is invalid for any reason, the round continues until another player calls bingo.
  6. Players can shuffle cards with other players for different card, or use the same card for a different round.

Game tips:

  • If you'd like an easier game, team students up in groups of 2 or more, play the song intro more than once, and allow them to discuss, google, and check recordings. USING SHAZAM OR OTHER SONG GUESSING APPS IS NOT ALLOWED:)
  • If you'd like a more challenging game, make students play individually, only play each song once, and do not allow any googling or checking song recordings.
  • Give students at least 10 seconds in between recording to allow them to brainstorm and make their guess.
  • Play for prizes out of a treasure chest or other prize box, incentive point, or other incentive.
  • Use a points system for every bingo round such as earning an extra point for every song in their bingo line they can identify the singer or artist that recorded the song.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

***These songs are chosen for identifiability and pop culture prominence to make for an playable game. All songs are school appropriate UP TO AT LEAST FIVE TO THIRTY SECONDS. If you wish to play songs for longer than this time stamp, please check ahead of time that you feel comfortable with the rest of the song portion before playing for students. Songs play in full on Spotify. Caller card is only intended to be held by the teacher. No other player cards have the Spotify code to the game playlist, and students do not have access to this playlist from their player card.
