5 Paragraph Biography Outline Packet

This resources gives students the ability to properly structure a 5 paragraph biography essay. Each page is designed to structure one of the five paragraphs with the help of sentence stems and a checklist of hints. Give your students the ability to feel confident in their drafting by having them start with this outline. I like to use this at the beginning of the year in order to get them used to writing 5 paragraph essays.

Includes:
-Space for an introduction paragraph (includes hints to help them include a hook, introduce their topic, and explain what their piece will be about)
-Background information page where the students will record important background information about their historical figure (birthdate, death date, occupation, family, hometown, unique facts, etc.)
-An accomplishments page where they will reflect on their historical figure's achievements. What were they and what allowed them to be successful?
-Impact on society page where students will connect their figure's accomplishments to our society as a whole. They will then infer how we can continue to expand on their accomplishments in the future.
-Concluding paragraph where they are given ideas to wrap up their piece (restate the topic, restate their accomplishments and impacts, and sum it up with sentence stems).
