5 Little Pumpkins Math

Use the 5 Little Pumpkins poem across the curriculum--introduce the poem during reading, and then use the pocket chart pieces for students to build the poem again for rereading with pointers! Introducing the 5 Little Pumpkins poem will set the stage for a week long thematic unit of literacy-based math lessons--including 2d shapes, counting practice, ordinal numbers, addition and subtraction story problems, and skip counting!

This set includes 2 versions of the pumpkin pocket chart--one is 2d shape pumpkins, and the other is happy pumpkins.

Introduce or review 2d shapes with the pumpkin shape printable posters for students to create, have students construct 2d shapes using the construction mats, and create a shape pumpkin patch using the printable shape pumpkins and write about their attributes!

Students will also enjoy interactive counting practice with candy pumpkins or pumpkin erasers, and solve story problems by modeling the problems with their pumpkins.

Create 5 little pumpkins finger puppets to practice skip counting by 5, solve story problems with the puppets, and use the 5 little pumpkins strips to count by 5s on the pocket chart.
