4th Grade Math Projects The End of the Year Plan A Cruise & Plan A Party

Give your students two one-of-a-kind learning experiences with these exciting math-based learning projects! They are a great way to review a variety of math skills at the end of the year and apply them to real-life scenarios. Your students will use other skills as well such as planning, problem solving, critical thinking, and time management.

Plan A Party

With this project, students become event planners to put together an amazing birthday celebration for Mr. and Mrs. Moneybags! Each page in their planning book brings them one step closer to party day!

Math Skills Students Will Use:

• estimating
• multi-digit addition and subtraction (whole numbers and decimals)
• area and perimeter of a composite shape (rectangular)
• multiplication (whole numbers and decimals)
• basic division
• multi-step problem solving
• rounding to the nearest 10
• telling time to the minute
• elapsed time

After planning every aspect of the party, students will return to their budget worksheet to add up the money they've spent. Did they stay within budget and keep Mr. and Mrs. Moneybags happy?

Plan A Cruise

This project lets students become travel agents and design a fun-filled vacation for their classmates. They will research their destination of choice and use important academic skills to create their one-of-a-kind trip.
